Our My Home Shared Equity Program

Future is helping more Tasmanians to achieve the dream of home ownership.

Our MyHome Shared Equity Program sees Homes Tasmania share the upfront costs of owning your own home, reducing the deposit you need to as little as two per cent.

Since the launch of the MyHome program, 380 Tasmanian households have been assisted into home ownership Tasmanians like Ellie and her young family, building their home at Longford. (Picture: Ellie with her young family and their builder Josh building their home at Longford with Felix Ellis.)

Today, I joined Ellie and their builder Josh to announce that we’re expanding the program to support more Tasmanians to buy or buildtheir own home. Lesley from 1 July, the assistance available to buyers of new homes or house and land packages will significantly increase.

The household income limit will increase by 25 per cent to $116,933 for a single and $134,475 for a couple. And Homes Tasmania’s shared equity contribution will also increase from $200 000 to $300 000 or 40 per cent (whichever is the lesser amount) of the purchase price.

This is in addition to our commitment to Stamp out Stamp Duty, saving first home buyers up to $28,945.

We’re doing everything in our power to help more Tasmanians achieve that great Australian dream of owning your own home.
