1.6M Funding secured to plan Central Coast’s Master Plan

Aug15,2024

The Central Coast Council has received $1,665,000 in Federal Government funding to invest in the Central Coast Strategic Housing Master Plan. The Housing Support Program will support planning and development projects to increase housing supply and ensure new homes are accessible, affordable and sustainable.

The Housing Support Program is one of several measures to help deliver Labor’s national target of building 1.2 million new, well-located homes over the next 5 years. It also forms part of Federal Labor’s $32 billion in new housing initiatives delivered through our Homes for Australia plan.

Mayor, Cheryl Fuller said “This project will ensure that Central Coast is well placed to capture our fair share of the 8000 or so new dwellings needed in the wider region between now and 2046.”

“More importantly, it will help ensure that together with industry, we will build the right homes in the right locations, supporting vibrancy and growth without jeopardising what is special about Central Coast. It’s often difficult for councils and their communities to resource the detailed strategic land use planning work required to underpin that kind of vision, so we are delighted and very thankful for this game changing investment by the Australian Government”
