Book Review – Birds of a Feather

by Rhianna King

Birds of a Feather is the debut novel from Australian author Rhianna King. Review by Jane

Living in Melbourne, Beth, a young single woman is not sure where she fits in. She loves her job but keeps to herself. Her family is close and full of artistic, musical extroverts, Beth’s total opposites. Her siblings still live at home and her parents seem to encourage their every whim instead of forcing them to buckle down and live a fiscally responsible, normal, ordered life. The one person who understands Beth is her Gran. Gran is always there, exactly where and as she is supposed to be, and Beth loves her for it.

After a family dinner ends in an inevitable argument around Beth’s lack of spontaneity, she decides to do something that will change all their lives forever. It leads Beth to learn things about her beloved grandmother that she could never have dreamt of, taking them both out of their comfort zones and bringing her closer to the rest of her family than she ever thought possible. Throw in a handsome British man and you have all the ingredients to a lovely weekend read that will leave you with a smile on your face.
