Penguin Squash club – Generations

Oct18,2024

By Terry Townsend

The 16th of September was a very special pennant night at the Penguin Squash Club. We had our youngest club member, Kobe Williams, at 8 years old, and our most senior club member and club Legend Patt Timms, play off in a great match for family bragging rights! (for those that don’t know, Kobe is Patts great grandson) they played out a very tight 3 game match, with Patt taking the chocolates.

Patt did not have it all her own way though, the scores were very even through the match, going point for point most of the match, with all 3 games went to long games of 17 points,

Kobe was super confident coming into the match, with some friendly banter in the club rooms stirring up his Great Nan,

Once the match was underway, Kobe started each game fast with an abundance of energy, nailing his deep serves and putting away any loose balls with his strong Left hand Forehand, Patt showed her experience and class with some excellent front of court drop shots and with some well timed cross court placement,

Patt eventually took the crucial points at the end of each game when they mattered most for the win.

This was an even Match to watch, and it didn’t take long for their court to draw a crowd of spectators.

It was great to see how much they both enjoyed playing each other. Patt is lucky enough to play squash with a number of her family members, its great to see our club have a number of families playing together this pennant!

Squash really is a game for everyone!

Well done Patt on the win, if I were you I’d rack the wins up early on Kobe because he is improving fast!

Congrats on the game!
