Free Event – “STEM Squared” Igniting the genius within

Caterpillar, the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council (TMEC), Elphinstone and William Adams are excited to announce their collaboration for the upcoming community event, STEM2 (Stem Squared). 

This free event is set to take place on 19th October 2024 from 10am to 2pm at TMEC and CATERPILLAR facilities, South Burnie.

STEM Squared is designed to inspire and educate families and children about the wide range of career pathways within the manufacturing, mining, and energy sectors. Attendees will have the chance to explore cutting-edge machinery, learn about exciting career opportunities, and participate in various activities, including prizes and giveaways.

Don Emmerton, Sr Engineering Manager at Caterpillar, shared his excitement, saying, “STEM Squared is a perfect platform to connect with families and young people, demonstrating the breadth of opportunities in our sector. We are proud to display our advanced technology incorporated in our Cat mining equipment and show how careers in engineering and technology can make a significant impact to our region and beyond.”

Vanessa Skipworth, General Manager at the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council, emphasized the importance of the event: “This initiative aligns with our commitment to promoting growth and attracting investment while supporting our community. STEM Squared is an excellent way to highlight the diverse career options available in Tasmania’s minerals, manufacturing, and energy sectors.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with industry leaders, view live demonstrations, and discover how they can be part of these dynamic fields. The event promises a fun and educational experience for all ages, fostering a greater understanding of the vital roles these industries play in our region’s economy.
