Transforming Scouting & Shaping Future Leaders – Alicia Van Ek

In a world where genuine community support often goes unnoticed, the contributions from local organisation BridgePro Engineering to the City of Devonport Scouts exemplify dedication and impact are truly remarkable. Many employees at BridgePro reside in the Central Coast region, reflecting their generous contribution to the greater region. For over seven years, BridgePro has played a crucial role in enhancing the Scouting experience, not only through financial support but also by providing essential resources like transport for events.

Their efforts extend beyond local activities, supporting national gatherings like the Apple Isle Moot, which unites young Rovers from across Australia. BridgePro’s involvement goes beyond logistics—families in the community actively participate in Scouting, fostering leadership and personal growth.

Future plans include the development of a state-of-the-art abseiling and rock-climbing facility for local Scouts, addressing a key need in the region. This infrastructure will offer activities like rock-climbing, abseiling, and a flying fox, previously unavailable to the community.

BridgePro’s support also helps reduce membership fees, making Scouting more accessible through initiatives like Ticket to Play. This has been essential in maintaining high membership levels and fostering inclusivity. Their impact is reflected in events like the 26th Australian Jamboree in January, which saw an unprecedented number of Tasmanian participants, thanks in part to community backing.

The City of Devonport Scouts’ journey highlights the power of community support and its ability to shape the leaders of tomorrow. Through their ongoing dedication, BridgePro continues to inspire and empower young Scouts for years to come.  The City of Devonport Scouts’ story is a shining example of the power of community spirit and the positive ripple effect of investing in our future generations. Through their dedication and support, they continue to inspire and empower young Scouts for years to come.
