ROAD SAFETY REMINDER in Braddon this Holiday Season

By Office of Senator Anne Urquhart

Senator Anne Urquhart today announced additional Federal Government funding for a priority local road project and took the opportunity to ask all road users to show extra caution over the holiday season.

“In Braddon people often travel long distances to and from work, and to visit family and friends across the North West and West Coast. During the holidays season we will see more traffic, and visitors who are less familiar with our roads and changeable driving conditions.

The Federal Government has invested in improvements that are helping keep people safe, but the road toll remains too high. Any loss of life on our roads is tragic” Senator Urquhart said.

The latest funding for local roads will see the Federal Government provide $960,000 to realign Frankford Main Road and Chapel Road at Harford into a T-junction. The Federal funding is part of a $22 million funding boost to fix Tasmanian roads which are known for traffic incidents and serious crashes. The State Government will contribute $240,000 to the Harford project.

Senator Urquhart said that “The Australian Government is committed to improving road safety and significantly reducing the number of road deaths and serious injuries on our roads. I am asking all road users to get behind that goal and put safety first over the holidays.”
