NW recipients of Country to Canberra – Leadership Competition

By Senator Urquhart

Country to Canberra is a program developed to empower young rural women and non-binary people to reach their leadership potential. Entrants from across regional and rural Australia were asked to respond to the question:

You can’t be what you can’t see. How do women and non-binary leaders in your community inspire you to make change?

Supported by Federal Senator Anne Urquhart for Bradden who stated:

I am proud to see Isabella Connelly and Jada-Li Crossey, two Braddon students, named as two of fifteen national winners of the Country to Canberra Leadership Competition.

“This program plays an important role in empowering young rural women and non-binary people to reach their leadership potential, by combating both gender and geographical barriers to success.”

Senator Urquhart met with the winners on 18th November at Parliament, as two of the fifteen national winners, Isabella and Jada-Li have travelled to the capital.  They met with chief executives and politicians, undertake leadership training, tour Parliament House, and have access to ongoing support and community as Country to Canberra alumni.

(L to R): Isabella Connelly, Senator Anne Urquhart and Jada-Li Crossey.
