Mayor Cheryl Fuller – February 2025
Whilst the lazy summer weeks usually mean a relaxed pace, here at Central Coast Council, we have been as busy as ever preparing for the year ahead. Much of it will be spent talking to you about what the Central Coast will look like in the years to come. The connection between our teams in Infrastructure, Community Services, and Planning has never been stronger, with our focus on communication with you being a top priority.
This year, you’ll see us out and about discussing the Our Homes, Our Future Project, the Dial Plan project, our Open Space Plan, and our Community Health and Wellbeing Plan. These are not plans that will sit on a shelf. Our team is committed to planning, acting, and evaluating, and these plans will guide our work in the coming years, as well as inform our budget to get the work done.
In 2025 we will resolve the future of Maskell’s Road and progress the planning of the Shared Pathway between Ulverstone and Penguin. We’ll also see the updated plans from Housing Tasmania for 1 Ironcliffe Road and, I hope, finalise the question of ownership for the Dial Sports Precinct.
We’ve committed to continuing our Community Conversations at 10 different locations during the year, starting with Riana on February 20th (details in this edition). We encourage you to join councillors and staff at these events to have your say and find out more about planned projects in your local areas.
Councillors’ biggest task this month, however, will be the appointment of our new CEO. We are proud of the number of applications we’ve received—a reflection of the wonderful community in which we live, and in which we all play a role. I look forward to announcing our new organisational leader to you in the coming weeks. It’s going to be a busy year ahead, and I can’t wait to share it all with you. Until next time, Mayor Cheryl Fuller
