South Riana Memorial Hall came alive on Saturday 18th January 2025 as children (and others) had good fun at our Summer Craft Day. It was so great to see all ages laughing, making special items to take home, and enjoying some food together.
Families came from far and wide, some meeting up with their friends and others making new ones, as they all created masterpieces during the school holidays. There was a wide range of activities: a puppet theatre for the newly created sock puppet to perform in, Lego to build, books to read, paper kitten’s to decorate, painting and paper planes to create, to name a few.
One of the new events was an old fashioned game of ‘Fishing Lucky Dip.’ Children would cast their fishing line into the ‘pond’ and catch a surprise bag filled with goodies. Unlike real fishing every cast was a winner. A mannequin was beautifully dressed up and everyone was invited to suggest its name. The names were written on entry forms and the winning entry was drawn during the afternoon. “Hazel’ is to be the mannequins name from now on. The winner also received a box of chocolates to share with their family.
I extend a sincere thank you to all who made this day a success and to all the families for coming along. We hope to see you again next time.
