The Zonta Club of Cradle Coast is one of five clubs in Tasmania, and is part of Zonta International, which is a leading global service organisation, empowering women and girls worldwide, through service and advocacy. Zonta works to expand their access to education, health care, economic opportunities and safe living conditions. We advocate and work towards ending child marriage and violence towards women and children, and to promote and support education equality and climate justice.
Our club: We work together to build a better world for women and girls. We’re all volunteers doing our best to balance our passions, our families, our health and our wellbeing. We bring our strengths and are given the opportunity to further develop skills. We are a group of like-minded women, united in our desire to improve the lives of women and to advocate on women’s issues.
The Cradle Coast Club participates in fundraising for Zonta Birthing Kits to provide clean birthing environments and training for traditional birthing attendants in third world countries. These have greatly improved infant and maternal mortality rates. Locally, we also have supported women and families experiencing homelessness or financial difficulties, via a number of different projects.
The Zonta Club of Cradle Coast holds monthly dinner meetings on the second Tuesday of the month, in the meeting room at the Menai Hotel, Burnie. We often have guest-speakers. We also meet once a month on a Saturday morning for a social cuppa, at various cafes across the coast.
Our first meeting for 2025 will be on Tuesday, February 11 (from 5:30 for a 6pm start). Guests are always very welcome, and we would love some more members – many hands make light work! Check out our Facebook page, contact our President, and come along to see if this may be for you!
