Special thanks to the Penguin Community Op Shop for their generous contribution to TCCV enabling the purchase of a much-needed laptop. This will be used for administrative tasks such as invoicing and emailing etc, as well as editing the newsletter to prepare for publication. Unpaid Op Shop volunteers provide an invaluable service to the Central Coast. All the funds raised (after rent and power is paid) go back into the community to support community members and organisations, as needed. Their weekly goal is not just to sell affordable clothing etc, but also to provide free food from the Rookery For those doing it tough. Sadly, Cost of Living increases are hitting us hard right now. All this support is only possible due to the quality donations the shop receives. So, take a leisurely walk along the scenic Penguin foreshore soon and relax with a coffee at one of several cafes. Then drop into the beautiful historic Thomas Building where the op shop is located, in the Main Street, and maybe pick up a bargain or two. Follow their FB page for updates. Our world is a richer place thanks to all those volunteers who give the gift of time in so many ways and in so many places! As Muhammad Ali famously said: “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth”.
