Advance West North West – Dec 24 Update

By Nick Prokopiec Acting President

Advance WNW’s aim is to foster and connect interested parties, regional youth, individuals, and businesses to ensure the region takes every opportunity to prosper. In particular our aim is to support the industries and infrastructure of the future such as members including Carbon Zero Initiative, Cradle Coast Authority, Bell Bay Major Projects, Marinus Link.

Round tables allow for a variety of viewpoints focussing not on the challenges but possible solutions, and importantly the need for collaboration from all stakeholders, smaller and larger, to maximise opportunities right through the supply chain.

For Carbon Zero Initiative and Cradle Coast Authority, November saw a launch of the Tasmanian report on The Pathway to a Carbon Zero Economy. “For those that are not familiar, the Pathway to a Carbon Zero Economy Report outlines a pathway for Tasmania to achieve net zero emissions. The report identifies 16 opportunities to reduce emissions, including nine that directly reduce fossil fuel emissions and seven that reduce biogenic carbon emissions. The report’s findings suggest that Tasmania can achieve net zero emissions and remain a net sink of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e) until 2050

For the NW and west coast business community, having an early understanding of the new opportunities which will arise from a reduction in fossil fuel emissions, may lead to investment and growth opportunities. AWNW is both excited and passionate about developing these opportunities for our NW and West coast businesses.

Bell Bay Major Projects Conference was held in November, Launceston. The conference focused on project updates from multiple industries and examine the key issues facing the Bell Bay region.

Marinus Link in collaboration with the Industry Capability Network (ICN), is providing a series of subsidised tender writing workshops in the north east and north west in November, writes Ken Drake, Community Engagement Specialist, Future Energy Hub, Burnie.
