CONTINUES TO NURTURE LOCAL TASSIE TALENT
Wynyard’s own Theatre Company, Squid Inc Theatre and Coast FM Community Radio, will feature 5 more plays by Northwest Tasmanian playwrights in its coming Winter Season of Saturday Radio Theatre, starting in early August.

Saturday Radio Theatre Production Manager, Nick Bosly-Pask said that, following on from the success of 2023’s winter season of local playwrights, this year’s winter offering will continue to showcase the talents of Northwest Tasmanian playwrights.
“We’re thrilled at the response we’ve had from local writers”, he said “especially being able to bring to the radio such variety with comedies, drama and a “coming of age” 2 act.”
“Whilst our first broadcast features 3 short comedies – “The Middle Seat” by Merryl Parker, “A Simple Twist of Fate” by Annie Heyes and “Charity Begins” by Alan Wright – the next 2 broadcasts will host the radio adaption of Ross Hay’s northwest ‘coming of age’ play “The Road That Cuts the Rivers” and the final broadcast will be Greg Burgess’ “All We Need.”

Casting of the plays has also brought to light some fresh acting voices – an extra bonus for Squid Inc Theatre in its efforts to encourage and nurture local talent.

The first broadcast of the Winter season will be on Coast FM at 5pm on Saturday, August the 10th with programs on the three following Saturdays at the same time. Listeners can also tune in through the Coast FM website and also using the Community Radio Plus app.

Saturday Radio Theatre is now in its third year of production, thanks to the generous support of Coast FM Community Radio and the Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal as well as from the Member for Braddon, Roger Jaensch.
